This will mark Denmark’s 6th appearance in a World Cup tournament. The furthest the Danish national team have come in this competition is the Quarter-Finals in the 1998 World Cup in France. The road to qualifying for this tournament has been a fairly easy one, to say the least. Denmark was able to secure a seat at the tournament having only lost 1 of their 10 qualifying matches. This defeat came during their final qualifying game against Scotland. Although this 2-0 defeat served as more of a ‘light friendly’ as both teams have guaranteed spots for the World Cup. It was still unfortunate for Denmark as they could have gone all 10 games with maximum points achieved.
Denmark’s biggest win in the qualifying games came during the second fixture against Moldova. This victory ended with a staggering 8-0 for the Danish national team. The goals started during the 19th minute with a successful penalty taken by Kasper Dolberg. Denmark was truly dominant during the fixture with a whopping 75% possession and with 765 passes - 89% of which were completed.
As this is Denmark’s 6th appearance in a World Cup competition, it is no secret that Denmark will be considered one of the underdogs of the competition. With Kasper Hjulmand remaining the manager of the Danish side following their impressive Euros cup run. It will be exciting to see if Denmark provide some upsets during this competition.
If Denmark manages to maintain their strong sense of communication and passion, Denmark will have the opportunity to potentially make it quite far in the Qatar World Cup 2022. Of course, only time will tell, however, but you shouldn’t have them written off in this year’s competition.
